Schuylkill-Berks League begins league playoffs

With a record of 13-3, the Oley-Topton American Legion baseball team took the top seed in the double-elimination playoff tournament that will get underway on Tuesday, July 10. With the number one seed, the Patriots get a first round bye in the playoffs.

Other first round match-ups in the Southern Division include: Tulpehocken at Fleetwood; Kutztown at Hamburg, and Wyomissing at Muhlenberg.

The Oley-Topton Patriots finished the regular season a game ahead of second place Muhlenberg. Hamburg was third at 9-7 while the Fleetwood Tigers were fourth at 6-10.

Tulpehocken and Kutztown each had records of 4-12 while Wyomissing finished last at 3-12.

In the North Division, the Southern Area A’s dominated with a perfect 16-0 record. The A’s finished five ahead of the second place Valley Vew West Enders (11-5).

The winners of the North and South tournaments will play for the league championship on July 17 at First Energy Field in Reading.
