Friends and neighbors of fallen Montgomery County police officer Brad Fox gathered together to sell baked goods throughout the weekend to raise funds for the officer’s family.
Diane Clarke and Kristi McColligan, neighbors of the Fox family, came up with the idea of organizing and holding the bake sales with their children.
With one week to pull it off, Clarke and McColligan dedicated up to 30 hours to gather goods, round up volunteers, and to spread the word about their cause. As of Sept. 25, the community has raised over $11,000.
Brownies, cookies, cupcakes and a variety of other goods were sold at several locations including Hollenbach Home Center, Freed’s Market, and Rita’s Water Ice. The venues provided space, time and donations in order to help in the effort.
Through use of social media, flyers, and word of mouth—these bake sales did not go unnoticed. Y102 Berks County radio came out to Rita’s, helping to lure a crowd. Several of the bake sales sold out within hours.
All proceeds benefit the Fox children. Plymouth Township Police Officer Brad Fox was killed recently in the line of duty.
Dozens of volunteers their time and energy towards this cause. Those who wish to make a monetary donation can send a check to the Fox Children’s Fund; c/o Continental Bank, 661 W. Germantown Pike, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
