The Hawk Hountain Council held a Good Scout breakfast on Sept. 13 at Friendship Hook and Ladder Company to honor local Scout Kevin Zimmers of Boy Scouts of America.
Zimmers is the owner of Zimmers Pets, Northeat Construction Company, and Tidy Tank Company. He is also an auctioneer for Geyer Auction Company, founding Vice President of the Berks Mont Business Association, a board member of United Way of Boyertown, 2012 United Way of Boyertown Campaign Chairman, and Past Chairman of the Boyertown Sidewalk Sale. Zimmers was the recipient of the 2009 Boyertown Area Citizen of the Year. He has been Scoutmast of Troop 533 New Berlinville, St. Andrews U.M.C. for the past 30 years and serves as the Advisor for the newly formed Explorer Post at the Boyertown United Way and is the recipient of the Scouters Key Award and District Award of Merit.
He was also the Frontier District Klondike Derby Chairman for 12 years.
Zimmers has also been an avid collectors of various items throughout his lifetime. His collection was featured on the TV show American Pickers—to air in November.
James C. Webb, member of the Executive Committee of the Hawk Mountain Council, helped the Reading leaders to organize the breakfast. Major Richard Howett, District Commissioner for Frontier District, was the guest speaker for this event.
The Frontier District of Hawk Mountain Council consists of 1,275 young men and women in Eastern Berks County.
