On Monday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. a Martin Luther King Jr. Service is to be held at St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church, 220 Indian Spring Road. The worship service is sponsored by the Boyertown Area Ministerial Association, which began them in 1999 in response to demonstrations by the Ku Klux Klan at a prominent intersection in Boyertown.
The event will feature performances by the show choir of the Boyertown Area Senior High School, under the direction of Dan Kershetsky and the Pine Forge Academy choir, under the direction of Neil Thomas.
The theme this year is adoption and marriage across racial lines and how this growing trend relates to King’s dream.
A dramatic presentation, under the direction of Norman Niles, will be performed by students from both schools and explore the implications of cross-racial marriage and adoption.
Delmas Campbell, principal at Pine Forge Academy, and Robert Scoboria, the acting superintendent of the Boyertown Area School District, will share in reading Dr. King’s words.
