If you were expecting the District 1 Sectional Wrestling Tournament to take place last weekend, you were in for a surprise. For the first time, instead of the Sectional Tournament, each league in the district would hold its own tournament.

The PAC-10 Tournament took place in Boyertown on Saturday, Feb. 16 and it turned out to be a good one for the home team. The Bears won the team championship with 206 team points, had two gold medalist, four silver medalists and advanced 12 wrestlers to this weekend’s District 1-AAA Tournament Feb. 23 at Spring-Ford.

The Bears finished 10 team points ahead of second place Owen J. Roberts, and 19 ahead of third place Spring-Ford. The Wildcats were the regular season PAC-10 champions.

Jordan Wood and Jordan Wertz led the way for the Bears by winning gold medals. Wood took gold in the 220 pound weight class, earning a 7-3 decision over Pottsgrove’s Pat Finn in the gold medal bout. Wertz won in the 195 pound class, winning 13-3 over Mason Romano of Spring-Ford in the championship bout.
