The Boyertown Area Senior High School is hosting it’s third-annual mini-THON on March 1 at 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on March 2.
Based off of Penn State’s THON, mini-THON is a twelve-hour, overnight event in which students dance, play games, compete—anything that involves staying on their feet for twelve full hours.
The event raises money for The Four Diamonds Fund, an organization that works through the Hershey Medical Center to relieve families battling pediatric cancer from their financial stress. The Four Diamonds Fund covers all costs for treatment that a family’s insurance does not cover, and anybody at Hershey’s Medical Center can receive this financial aid.
Last year, Boyertown raised over $23,000 and is trying to meet a goal of $30,000 this year.
A group of about sixty students have been spending their weeks since September planning mini-THON.
“The determination and the drive of the 15-18 year-old students participating in mini-THON is something I cannot describe,” said Alyssa Hannon, Boyertown mini-THON 2013 Chair.
Boyertown Area Senior High and Four Diamonds together are working towards conquering pediatric cancer once and for all.
